Anthony
Wafula- Lead Consultant
Anthony is an award-winning journalist
with over 10 years experience in Radio
broadcasting and journalism training.
In 2006 he was the Best Radio Journalist
(1st Runners’ up) in the UNESCO
HIV/AIDS Red Ribbon Media Award for excellence.
Anthony’s extensive experience
in Radio Programming has seen him serve
as the Radio Programmes Manager at the
Kenya Broadcasting Corporation.
He has extensive consulting experience
in media and development within the East
Africa Region and has served a number
of organizations among them Radio Amani,
Internews Network Kenya, Synovate Pan
Africa ,HelpAge International, International
Peace Support and Training Centre, Oxfam
Novib, Africa Peace Point, Kenya ICT Network
(KICTANET), Kenya Refugee Consortium,
and Kenya National Aids NGO Consortium.
He holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Mass
Communication from the University of Nairobi’s
school of Journalism and Bachelors in
Education (Arts).
Paul Nyulaku
Paul
currently serves as Programme Co-ordinator
(Professional Development) and Lecturer,
Centre for Ethnic and Conflict Studies
of the University of Port Harcourt, Port-Harcourt,
Nigeria. Prior to taking up this position
in January, 2008.
He served as Community Development Officer
Operations, Community Social Development
Project (CSDP) of the World Bank in Nigeria,
which was a pioneer programme that initiated
and successfully executed the World Bank’s
Community Driven Development Strategy
(CDD) in partnership with the three tiers
of Government in Nigeria.
Paul holds a Master of Arts (M.A) Degree
in Peace and Conflict Studies from the
University of Ibadan, Ibadan Nigeria and
Bachelors in Political Science. His primary
research interests deal with traditional
mechanisms for managing conflict, Conflict
sensitivity in Development Programming
and Effective Strategies and Communication
Tools for Policy Advocacy. In 2008, he
consulted for the United Nations Development
Programme (UNDP), Nigeria on the Niger
Delta Local Development Programme as Community
Management Specialist and Consultant,
UNDP inaugural Local Development Dialogues
subsequently. These were decentralisation
and peace building programmes in support
of the Disarmament Demobilization and
Reintegration (DDR) in Nigeria for Ex-militant
groups.
Paul is a training consultant to several
International Organizations. He is a certified
trainer for the Open Society Initiative,
Budapest, Hungary in the adaptation of
their training curriculum to the West
African Context, Open Society Initiative
of West Africa (OSIWA), and West African
Civil Society Institute (WACSI), Kofi
Anan International Peace Keeping Training
Centre (KAIPTC) in DDR and Conflict analysis
as well as International Peace Support
Training Centre in Kenya.
Judy Wakahiu
Judy is a seasoned policy advocate with
over 13 years of experience. She has previously
worked as the Executive Director of a
Kenyan national refugee advocacy Non Governmental
Organisation for period of over 6 years
and was instrumental in enactment of a
number of policies and law on refugees
at both nation and international level.
She therefore has immense experience in
policy advocacy both at the national and
international arenas.
Judy holds an MA in International Studies
from the University of Nairobi and a BA
in Sociology and Political Science. Judy
has also worked with the Justice and Peace
Commission of the Catholic Secretariat
in addition to engaging in numerous consultancies
on organization change and strategic plan
development, training on peace building
and conflict resolution as well as on
issues of human rights, refugees and gender.
